- SUPPORTERS: Donald Trump, Greg Abbott, Ted Cruz, Ronald Reagan and of course legendary economist Milton Friedman all strongly support universal school choice. In fact, Gov. Abbott and Sen. Cruz have both made it their signature issues on the state and federal levels.
- OPPONENTS: Left-wing, radical unions are the biggest opponents of school choice. That basically says all you need to know. Their national boss, Randi Weingarten, calls all the shots from her Manhattan penthouse with Hillary Clinton and other liberal lions in her ear.
- INDOCTRINATION: Let’s face it, Woke indoctrination has come to Texas schools whether we like it or not. It’s not just big liberal cities like Austin, but also suburbs, small towns and rural schools. They’re pushing sex changes for minors, drag shows, grooming, critical race theory, and hating America.
- TAXES: The money should follow the child. It’s our money, we worked hard to earn it, and should be able to determine where it goes for our children’s educations.
- GOVERNMENT: School choice actually reduces the size of government. In fact, Milton Friedman’s EdChoice conducted a study showing that school choice programs saved taxpayers up to $45.6 billion—or about $3,300 to $7,800 per student. The truth is that public schools are more expensive on a per-pupil basis than private schools.
- HOME SCHOOL: Home school families support school choice by an overwhelmingly 71%. If home school families choose to accept an ESA, which is completely voluntary, it would not lead to government control of their children’s education and lives. This has been proven in 31 other states.
- COMPETITION: Conservatives believe that competition makes everyone better. It forces less government, fiscal responsibility, better performance, and increased results. School choice opponents fear competition because they know it will mean accountability.
- CHOICE: Ultimately, school choice is about freedom. The government forcing kids to attend a school based on their zip code is the least conservative approach to education you can imagine. Parents should have the freedom to choose the best school for their kids’ needs and values.
